Intent
At Bottesford Infant School we believe that PSHE education helps children and young people to stay safe, healthy and prepared for life's challenges and opportunities. Our PSHE curriculum enables our pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. Our school values WE CARE (Working together, Enjoyment, Communication, Achievement, Respect and Empowerment) are embedded and intertwined in to all aspects of our curriculum. Our PSHE curriculum supports the development of the skills, attitudes, values and behaviours, which enable our children to: have a sense of purpose, value self and others, form positive relationships, make and act on informed decisions, communicate effectively, work with others, respond positively to challenge, be an active partner in their own learning, be active citizens within the local community and ultimately - become healthy and fulfilled individuals. What we teach the children in PSHE helps them to understand and value how they fit into and contribute to the world. We put a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health. Our curriculum also includes mindfulness, allowing children to advance their emotional awareness, concentration and focus. Our PSHE curriculum is constantly evolving to respond to the needs of our children and community, as well as any legal changes or technological advances.
