PE - Physical Activity & School Sport (PESSPA)

Intent

At Bottesford Infant School we believe that high quality Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA) is essential in preparing children to live healthy lives. We use PESSPA as a tool to develop our children’s mental and physical wellbeing, and know this will have a positive impact on their educational achievement. We develop the children's love of exercise and physical activity, instill healthy habits and lay the foundations and values necessary for lifelong healthy and active lifestyles. Our Physical Education lessons enable our children to become physically literate; to demonstrate agility, coordination, balance and control, to work well with others and enjoy discovering new activities. Our School Sport offer develops and broadens the learning taking place in PE and forms links with community sports and activities. Our children have the opportunity to engage and participate in a range of sports in a range of settings. We ensure all of our children experience competition; they represent their class and school at various events and feel part of the school community. We have a physically active culture where physical activity is encouraged and celebrated both in and out of the classroom, across all curriculum subjects.
