Mrs Dalgairns is the class teacher and Mrs Johnson is the TA.
P.E will be Tuesday and Thursday. As P.E times change throughout the year, could you please ensure that P.E kits are brought to school on Monday and they will be taken home on Fridays.
Spring Term Coverage -
This term our whole school theme is 'Bottesford on Tour’
Literacy - In literacy the children will be focusing on 'Tinga Tinga' traditional African tales, they will be retelling stories and creating their own 'Tinga Tinga' stories. They will also be writing letters and creating non-chronological reports related to Africa.
The children will be covering a range of spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
Numeracy - In Numeracy the children will cover a range of activities involving skills such as improving their mental arithmetic, the 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and challenges linked to applying these, fractions, understanding the properties of shapes, comparing measures, time and money.
Computing - In Computing the children will focus on the importance of E-Safety and algorithms. They will continue to develop their word processing skills as well as using ipads for detailed digital research.
Science - In Science we will be learning about animals and their habitats and how animals adapt to live in their environment. The children will compare living and non-living things as well as looking at the various classifications of animals (with a specific focus on African animals).
PSHCE - We will be focusing on the values of 'Communication' (Chatty Dolphin) and 'Achievement' (Amazing Ant). Through 'Jigsaw' the children will be exploring 'Dreams and Goals' and 'Healthy Me'.
Art and Design - The children will have the opportunity to create artwork relating to African 'Tinga Tinga' art. The children will explore patterns in African art, as well as creating sunset silhouette pictures.
Music - The children will be focusing on 'pulse and rhythm'. They will listen to and appraise African music. They will perform in an African drumming workshop and create their own compositions.
PE - The children will be developing their skills in gymnastics, dance and games.
Design and Technology - The children will be designing and creating their own African musical instruments.
History - The children will be exploring what Scunthorpe and Bottesford were like in the past and how they differ today.
Geography - African focus. The children will be using maps to locate Africa and the UK. They will be identifying key physical and human features and they will be comparing life in a village, a town and a city in Africa. The children will be researching the African climate, food, traditions, school life and life styles. The children will identify continents and oceans of our world.
RE - The children will be exploring 'Believing' and be looking at the Christian celebration of Easter.
