Intent
We aim for the children to develop a deep understanding and love for musical learning during their time with us in school. Music teaching will always be active, engaging and empowering. The main strands of music are covered across their time in school; pitch, tempo, rhythm and pulse and these revisited regularly. Children are given an opportunity to learn a musical instrument whilst in our school and this is something we are passionate about. We provide authentic access to varied musicians both live and pre-recorded and we hope that this inspires a love for music in the children. We integrate singing seamlessly into our daily school life and children enjoy using their voices from when they first enter school. Children will study musicians from a range of time periods and genres and will be encouraged to build their own personal preference in order to give opinions and critique pieces that they hear. We explore a range of diverse artists and also look at those local to us.
