Welcome to Green Class 

 

Miss Smith and Mrs Gregory are the teachers in Green Class and Mrs Johnson is the TA. Our PE slots through the Summer term are on a Tuesday and Wednesday, but can change, so can you please ensure that PE kits are brought in on a Monday and taken again on a Friday. Summer term coverage

This term our whole school theme is 'Knock Knock!' and we have created an under the sea immersive environment, with the Humber Bridge as part of our classroom.

 

Literacy - In Literacy the children will be looking at a range of fictional stories including the Rainbow fish and Sharing a Shell. We will be writing and following instructions, writing a recount of our trip to The Deep and also looking at poetry.

 

Numeracy - In Numeracy the children will be learning about multiplication and division, learning to tell the time and apply their skills, fractions and weight.

 

Computing - In Computing the children will be using digital research as well as building on their word processing skills. They will continue to use lego visualiser to record our learning and build on our typing skills. They will continue to develop their awareness of e-safety and how they can keep themselves safe online. The children will continue to work with our new robots named Dash and will program them to get to different locations.

 

Science -  The children will look at seasonal change and what happens throughout the year.  The children will learn about habitats and the life of sea creatures. They will learn to classify animals and decide if the are herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. They will also learn about the life cycle of a frog.

 

PSHCE - The children will be focusing on our school values of communication and achievement. They will focus on respect and how to be kind and caring towards other people and also the value of empowerment.

 

Art and design -  The children will be developing their skills in line and shape and also learning how to mix colours. Along with looking at a famous artist Andy Goldsworthy. They will also create a sculpture using clay.

 

Music - The children will be focusing on exploring instruments and using symbols. They will look at the volume of the instruments and also the pace of the music. The children will explore the different sounds the instruments make and compose their own pieces of music using the symbols.

 

PE - The children will be covering different units based on sending and receiving and also taking part in net wall games.

 

History - The children will learn about the history of fishing and the docks in Hull/Grimsby. They will look at the history of the Humber Bridge.

 

RE -  The children will focus on why we are all special and different religious ceremonies. They will look at the Islamic religion and compare their beliefs and traditions to that of Christianity.

 

Geography -  The children will learn about the different oceans and seas around the world. They will look at human and physical features and be able to place The UK/Hull on a map.
