Our whole school theme is 'Move it!'. Our immersive classroom supports this theme and is split into two sections... a hospital and a sports stadium! We have lots of different areas to play and learn including a sports pitch, swimming pool, football goal, ambulance and hospital ward.
Playing co-operatively with peers, taking turns and sharing fairly. Developing confidence throughout our project outcome and exhibition of learning. Solving problems with our peers, thinking of our own ideas and fair solutions.
Developing class stories using the story mountain technique, use of talk partners, asking and answering questions in response to stories. Story maps, extending our vocabulary linking to bones and bodies and imaginative language in role-play.
Read Write Inc., guided writing, guided reading, story maps and story mountains. Writing our own sentences, stories, invitations and information books. Keeping a diary of our physical activity as part of our homework.
Addition and number bonds to 10, subtraction, doubling and halving numbers. Counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s and linking to practical problems, estimating, money (linking to our exhibition) and measuring our body parts.
Recognising and talking about differences in ourselves and others, learning about people who help us in the community and x-rays. Using apps on the iPads and how to keep safe online.
Artwork linking to the story ‘Funnybones’ using different media and materials, imaginative role-play in our immersive environments.
As well as all of this we have continuous provision out in our classrooms to support all areas of learning, we will be receiving ‘Skelly post’ challenges throughout the term and reading lots of amazing stories such as ‘Keep running Gingerbread Man!’ and ‘Eat your greens Goldilocks!’.
Today we had a very exciting morning as we facetimed our new friend Leo in Perth! We rang at 9.30am which was 5.30pm in Perth. We met Leo and family and asked him lots of questions. We had a tour of his house (including a swimming pool in his garden!) and sang songs together.
A huge thank-you to Leo and family for providing this learning experience for Red and Orange class as part of our project.
