Art and design
At Bottesford Infant School, children participate regularly in art and design. We believe that art, design and building creativity, is a vital life skill for the children. Through art and design, children learn ways to express themselves while also building an enjoyment for the work of other artists. A high quality of art work is displayed consistently throughout our school to lend itself to our immersive learning environment.
We have an art club for children that runs for a 6 week period, every other half term.
The art and design curriculum builds on the children's following skills:
* drawing
* painting
* collage
* printing
* textiles
* sculpture
These are revisited throughout their time at Bottesford Infant School so they become familiar and consistent in the application of these skills and also the knowledge and vocabulary that go alongside them.
The children are encouraged to study and discuss a range of artists both from the past and from more modern times. They may look at artists that create, using all of the above skills. Children will look at the familiar style of some artists and use this in their own work. They will critique the artists work, their own work and that of their peers. Children will create pieces of artwork that are of a high quality and they take pride in such work. Our aim is that children leave our school, with a love and deep passion for art and design that will continue to grow throughout their education.
